Yesterday I spoke about the doctors performing a splice like procedure to control the lungs individually. This effort failed 3x and doctors were forced to resort to the original style of tubing. The attempt to give his right lung a break through this process was unsuccessful and they don’t want to create more damage on the existing fragile organs.

In addition, they discovered a pneumothorax (additional air between the lung and chest wall) on dads left lung. Do to the severity of the discovery another chest tube was inserted immediately . Today, doctors feel that the left lung pneumothorax has healed on its own. It appears that there is no air to be sucked out of his left lung anymore. They will leave the chest tube in for the left lung as a precaution to monitor but believe they will be able to remove it soon. His right lung still needs the chest tube.

The doctors confirmed dad no longer needs dialysis and they have removed these resources from his body.

Dad will continue to be treated with heavy antibiotics and Antifungal medication in an effort to cover a broad spectrum of what may or may Not exists in the Blebs/cyst around dads lungs.

I have Coordinated with staff for a professional Cellist to play music for dad via video. Our recording was sent to staff again and they will be playing our message for him regularly.

Another team of doctors has reached out to me and want to assist in any mediation or communication with family. I have made them aware as well as any staff I engage with that this site exist.

I also want to take this time to tell everyone that I love you. My fathers welfare is my top priority and understand that current conditions limit everyone’s involvement. I know it is hard having to sit in your respected home and wait for these updates. I know it is not An easy feeling being in a helpless position. I appreciate everyone’s kind words who have reached out to us individually. You are not alone, I love my father very much and it is clear you do to. There is not much we can all do with these conditions. If everyone is up for it I’d like to schedule a prayer. At 8pm tonight, please step outside and look up at the moon and sky. Say prayer with me, connect us through the stars the sky and moon. Pray for my father, pray me as I will pray for you and pray for the doctors in dads care.

Till next time...

Dads conditions is still pretty severe. He is stable and condition is still critical. Yesterday doctors attempted to use his own blood on his right lung to clog the leak where ever it may be. The procedure is known as a blood patch. The use behind this is that blood naturally clots and is a low risk attempt. As your blood would clot a cut, the hope was this would patch the leak. The patch did not work. Staff measures the amount of air needed to suck out and was a very small change.

Early this morning I spoke with doctors about dads Hemoglobin levels for his blood dropping a little. Enough to where they Wanted to give him some extra blood.

With his lungs heavily damaged there is a lot that needs repaired and staff Continues seeking addition options of care.

In general we were all aware of the risk when dad was intubated for the ventilator. Dad knew they risk and it was his choice. With that, a tube down his throat assumes the breathing for both lungs. Today, they will change the tube out to a different style that splits. Meaning they can individually control each lung. The intent here is to give his right lung with the Pneumothorax a break to recover. The risk is still the same, but lower, simply due to the fact that he is already in a ventilator. So with dads lungs working together the left lung will assume the majority role of oxygen exchange to give his right lung a break and room to heal. If this does not work they still have the capability to re-assume the previous setting with his lungs.

In addition, due to the blood patch risk being so low. We may be able to give additional efforts if the the tube exchange does not work. Due to dads illness he can only withstand so much but is still fighting.

Jamie and I had a meeting with the doctors and were able to see the severity of dads lungs through their imaging. I can’t express enough bad dads lung looked. It is very hard to swallow in terms of the severity of dads condition.

I regret to inform that today was the first time that discussion resulted in the possibility of dad not making it and surviving his level of illness.

Anyone who needs to talk to me can call Me. Feel free to reach out so we can work through these matters I want to express that I am available.

I love you all.

Till next time.

Recent activity has really shed a certain light on dads condition. What I mean by that is that dads recent complications have just comfirmed the severity of dads illness. The virus alone is miserable and Is what drove dads health to its current condition. With dads current condition , pre existing conditions and the strength/infection of covid 19 dads body is heavily damaged. Dads pre-existing medical challenges have been amplified and current stump his progression today.

Dads emergency chest tube has been a massive game changer in his overall health. Doctors were able to see things called blebs in his chest walls on both lungs. These are similar to cyst, but May also have an infection embedded inside of them. They are strong to believe that one of these blebs May have burst causing an airway pathway to communicate between the walls where they don’t belong Hence the pneumothorax . In addition the doctors feel strongly about his right Lung having a tear some where possibly causing the pneumothorax.

With this situation the Tracheostomy Will unfortunately not make a difference. I am unsure if the meeting on Tuesday will still move forward or is even necessary.

As it stands, dad is one of the rare patients that’s is running into alot of the complications. Statistics show many move forward from this but one cannot forget to point out how severe dads lung conditions are.

Doctors and staff are in a holding pattern due to the pneumothorax and complications that dad is experiencing From this. The virus has affected many parts of dads body and we are seeing the wrath of it now.

Dads levels are currently stable and controlled. We are forced to wait and see what happens the next few days and see the next course of action.

Till next time ...
