Staff has started dad on these breathing trials

Where he gets a lower dose of the ventilator settings As a trial run to push forward. Today dad was tested at 30 % And is now at 40%. He is continuousmy moving forward and is making the progress needed. Dads updates with details will decrease as we move forward m. Simply because he is improving and going the right direction. Currently he does not have a temperature and all levels are stable

Today has been a very productive day for dad. He has reached an all time low on his ventilator setting of 35%. From an overall lung perspective dad is taking all the right steps. He has made some good improvements and is breathing more and more in his own. Dads lungs are still pretty scarred from the warzone he was in with the virus and may need support for a good period to rehabilitate correctly and affectively.

From an infection stand point the battle continues. Doctors have tested his mouth, gall bladder, liver, kidney and more and have not found the root of the infection. Due to such an abnormality in his lungs, the Blebs/Cyst, staff still feels strong they contain infection. Although the cultures from each section being tested have yet to come back with a positive yes/no answer for infection, they will treat it as such and continue the antibiotics. At this point, they are classifying it as a lung Abscess. So what that means is that they will treat it as such, that being a 4-6 week treatment of antibiotics to address the Blebs/cyst in and Or around his lungs. So dad still contains an increased Heart rate And blood pressure From this suspected infection. Nothing too alarming but he was giving some medication to assist balancing some levels. At this point, outside of time to heal and rehabilitate the infection/s is the only pressing concern and is being addressed.

In addition, all chest tubes have been removed and dad no longer needs them with his progress. So today dad got his 3rd and final test for covid and was negative. He is officially and completely clear from Covid and no longer needs to be in the segregated wing with covid patients. He was moved to a regular ICU room where he will continue his care.

Till next time...

Discussion..

We awake today with the sun. Before the hustle and bustle of the day. Updates, procedures and happenings. I want to give thanks. Thank you for all that I have come into contact with. Those in my life and those that are gone. Cousins, Elders, non blood related family, I miss you. The circles that I have been running lately, have me thinking. Have me soul searching. A new day, allows for a new thought. A new minute means new life. Growth, progress and for me that’s hope. That’s a string I have grasping fairly tight for a while. Attempting to nourish my roots I have uncovered some space. I’m gonna run today. Get some air change my perspective a bit. Attempt to shake off my yesterday, shake off last week, loosen up some old chains. This allows me to have some smiles. I remember being raised in the ER. The amount of exposure that I had to the medical profession was out of by his world. Thank you dad. I watched my dad and everyone else just amaze me everyday. Man did they set the bar high. Thank you Emergency Dept. I have had the privilege to both see my dad in action, work right next to my dad and protect him (not that he needed it). The voodoo shift. I remember busting my eye doing craziness (being a hard headed LIMON) and my dad stitched me up. Talking to me the entire time. While he numbed me up. While he rinsed the shit out of my eye (irrigation he said). Things he said that have stuck.

Mijo. It’s ok to be crazy. Just be smart at the same time. Lol. He said you know you have the best person for this job. And then he smiled. And with the one good eye I watched a lady get wheeled in with her heart exposed. He said Mijo look at me. Just focus on this. Nothing else matters. Just me and you right now. Next thing you know, I’m done 24 stitches and great vision. Thank you dad. Let’s go Pops, Let’s go father. Be tough a little longer. be strong a little longer. I can’t wait to see you. (Jamie)
